This unique property is part of the original baroque Tartaglia Palace, dating back to the 15th century and was used to store weapons and artillery. Many beautiful arches, high ceilings and stone ornaments remain, making this property perfect for a traditional “konoba” styled restaurant serving lamb on the spit, peka and other local foods which are currently unavailable to the tourists in the Palace area. In order to experience such a traditional meal, visitors currently have to travel to locations outside of Split, often having to make arrangements far in advance. Both this Bunker and the commercial space leased to a caffe/bar were purchased from the Tartaglia family.
The entrance shares a gorgeous garden and patio filled with fragrant lemon and orange trees. This secluded space is one of the last private gardens remaining in the Palace district. The size of the space is currently 72 square meters with the potential of adding an additional floor which would provide another 60 square meters of space. The bunker borders the commercial retail space (current caffe/bar) and can be combined to provide a unique entrance to the restaurant in this chic district of Split, known as the “Rodeo Drive” of Split.
